Reasons to be Cheerful - Blog Hop

I'm not really sure what a blog hop is yet but I decided to give it a shot. I have done them before but I'm not completely sure I'm on the right track! Anyway here goes! My Reasons to be Cheerful this week are: Friends One of my longest friends arrived over for a visit from Scotland to Ireland this week. She came to see her sister who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and to visit a sick relative. I took her to visit my mother on Monday and I took her to the airport to fly back home on Wednesday. I was happy to see her come and sad to see her leave. As always. Juicing Juicing is my new way of being kind to myself. I started two weeks ago and haven't stopped. I have a feeling it's going to be the one thing that finally clicks with me when it comes to being kind to my body. I'm not focusing on weight loss but on what nutrients I can supply my body with. I am finding it easy to have juice in the morning, juice or smoothie for lunch and then a nice healthy dinner. This mornings delicious concoction consisted of curly kale, broccoli, apple, cucumber, celery and lemon. For lunch I am having carrot, orange, apple and garlic and then for dinner, a vegetable curry with beans for protein. Sadly my new juicer gave up after only two weeks but on the cheerful side, the shop where I purchased it are willing to exchange! Health I'm just so pleased that my mother, who is eighty, is in good health again. No chest infections,no asthma attacks, no breathing difficulties, no arthritic pain. We were at a hospital appointment on Tuesday and the doctors were really pleased with her. Lunch Tomorrow Lunch out tomorrow hasn't happened yet but I'm hopeful it will go according to plan and I'm feeling cheerful about it. I have an exam in the morning and then my husband is taking me out to lunch. It will be a mad rush to get back to collect my little boy from school but having him to collect is yet another reason for cheerfulness!

  1. Thanks for joining in! A blog hop is just so that every person has the list on their page so we can 'hop' from one to another.
I love your reasons! I can relate to most, but not the juicing....don't you get hungry? Lol
I'm glad your mum is healthy, it's always a relief isn't it.
So glad you got time to reunite with an old friend, that's such a lovely reason to smile. Hope you have a wonderful lunch tomorrow xx

    1. Hi Joanna. I love the 'reasons to be cheerful' idea. It certainly made me cheer up!
About the juicing, no I don't get hungry. I'm not doing a juice diet as such, just incorporating more fruit and veg into my diet through juice. It's a way to get badly needed nutrients into my body. I drink fruit and veg juice until noon, maybe a veg soup in afternoon sometime and a healthy dinner in the evening. If I don't feel like eating or do relapse and have something sweet, I don't feel so bad as I've had my nutrients for the day.

  2. Great reasons to be cheerful! I really want to get a juicer but it's a bit of a minefield when there are sooo many to choose from! Good luck with your exam tomorrow :-)

    1. I just did a lot of reseach on the juicers. I'd really like a twin gear masticating one but they are way over my budget. I settled for an Andrew James Power Juicer and it's working well for me. It's a centrifrugal type and ideal for a beginner juicer like me!

  6. Lovely reasons to be cheerful! It was my first time to join this blog hop too so I know how you feel... it is a lovely positive thing to do isn't it? Tell me, what Juicer do you use? I ask because it's something my son and I want to do.
Lovely to find another Irish blogger... another reason to be cheerful :-)

    1. There doesn't seem to be that many Irish bloggers on the scene or maybe I just haven't found them yet! Yep. The blog hop certainly is a lovely positive thing to do. I use the Andrew James Power Juicer. Its around 70 euro and a great juicer for a newbie juicer. You can get a lloytron one for around 35 euro which would be good to start with if budget is a problem.

  8. I've been blogging 5 years and still don't know how to link up. I guess I'd figure it out if I needed to. Have fun with it!

Thanks for your visit to my recent post on books.as gifts. Added fun in reading is seeing the difference in our terminology at times. I notice you refer to a "book voucher" as what we call a "gift card." Also you "collect" your child; I "pick up" mine. :)

  10. Woah! I'm really loving the template/theme of this website.
It's simple, yet effective. A lot of times it's very difficult to get that "perfect balance" between superb usability and visual appeal.
I must say you've done a awesome job with this.
In addition, the blog loads extremely fast for me on Internet explorer.
    Outstanding Blog!
